About the Artist
Born in Northern Italy, anonymous artist Plin began to recognize the creative potential of the street at the early age of ten. Living in Paris at the time and skateboarding around the city, he felt newly independent, like an explorer, and started to pay attention to unused urban spaces and recognize the potential of those spaces as integers of communication.
Soon after, Plin launched his career as an artist, first writing graffiti then creating the monster character for which he has become widely known. This progression from graffiti to street art, from one form of expression to another, was an organic one for Plin. Economic in detail yet graphically forceful, his monster character commands our immediate attention and encourages an emotional response that varies from viewer to viewer.
Graffiti writing is about communication and Plin’s character—mouth open either in scream, song, or sigh—continues that tradition and activates an auditory sense using only visual means.
